Dan's Travels: MacRitchie Reservoir , Singapore (December 2007)
Built in 1868, MacRitchie Reservoir is Singapore's oldest reservoir. Weaving through the primary forest are several walking trails ranging from 1-5 hours. There are boardwalks edging a part of the scenic lake. Our accommodation (the Union guest apartment) was located kitty corner from this popular nature sanctuary. Whether morning or evening, the idyllic park in the reservoir was a pleasant refuge for humans and wildlife alike. Besides spotting some turtles, we were pleasantly surprised by the presence of some monkeys in the wild. They were ready to grab anything that looked like food. The park did not change much. I recalled some vivid memories of strolling in the park during my SAUC days, some 30 years ago. Nature has a way to refresh our past... |
