Dan's Travels: New KL Hilton (November 2007)
Unlike our previous trips by air to Kuala Lumpur, we were glad to take the KLIA for the first time from the airport to the heart of the city. We didn't have to suffer motion sickness at the hands of reckless taxi drivers. In fact, KLIA fares cost less than taxis. A train buff myself, I couldn't be more happy riding on the express train to our hotel. Although I couldn't visualize how the express line would go directly to the Kuala Lumpur Hilton, I was glad for not needing to get another transfer. We followed the Hilton signs from the central station to the hotel. We suddenly realized that it was not the same hotel we stayed few times in the past. This is a brand new hotel! Well, we found out that the hotel had been relocated. The location couldn't be better when I saw a breathtaking panoramic view of the KL skyline on one side and the spread of Lake Gardens, the Parliament, and surrounding structures on the other. We could see several light rail lines disappearing between concrete structures in the distance. The highlight was of course the sumptuous breakfast at the concierge level. We thoroughly enjoyed a large variety of tropical fruits and the halal items. We usually reminisced about the breakfast buffet during our past KL trips when we got back to US.. |
