Dan's Travels: Beijing - Forbidden Palace

Housing a total of 9,999 rooms, the Forbidden Palace ("Gu Gong" in Chinese) was the imperial palace during the Ming and Ching dynaties. The Outer Court in the south
section was where the Emperor executed his royal powers while the Inner Court in the north section was where he and royal family lived. Yellow is the royal color and it
dominates the structures in the palace. It was my second stop of the day. The taxi dirver I hired for the day dropped me at the North Gate, the Gate of the Divine Might.
I had two hours to weave through a maze of structures before getting to the South Gate, which was the Tiananmem Gate. It took me a while to find my way to the East Gate
to meet the taxi driver. After 3 hours I barely had time to take in most of the major buidlings through the lens of two digital cameras and a DVD camcorder.

It was breathtaking!!
