Dan's Travels: Beijing - Summer Palace

"The Summer Palace is the archetypal Chinese garden, and is ranked amongst the most noted and classical gardens of the world. In 1998, it was listed as one of the World
Heritage Sites by UNESCO" (taken from the TravelChinaGuide.com). I had only one hour to tour this enormous imperial garden and obviously couldn't see the entire 294
hectares of gardens and structures. The little that I saw was very impressive. The serene Kumming Lake (takes up 3/4 of area) had a very therapeutic effect. Pink lotus was
everywhere. Lots of tourists paddled boats across the lake.
