Dan's Travels: Orlando, FL: The "Hot" Move (June 2007)

It wasn't not an easy move to Orlando, Florida, especially during the beginning of the hot and humid season. While I was busy wrapping up my work at Southern Adventist University, Amy was doing the more stressful job of packing and cleaning up before the movers arrived. We're very sad about leaving our home of 3 years in MIsty Valley, Ooltewah. We were very fond of the house as it had everything we wanted in a home. Since our movers took away everything (except the two laptops), we spent a night at the home of Cheryl and Shane Nelson. Early next morning, we drove our way down toward Orlando, Florida. As we turned into the Apopka area near our new home in Spring Ridge, we were greeted by some cows, a very rare country sight just north of Orlando. Although I'm working in busy Orlando, we're glad that we live far enough to have fresh and clean air.

As the movers were unloading our stuffs into our new home, Carina enjoyed removing the yellow ID tags from boxes and furniture items. After many hours of hard work of getting some basic stuffs set up, it was time for a cool dip in the pool. I took a couple days settling in before starting my first day of work. We spent Father's Day at Sea World and ran into Elmo and company. It was quite a change working at the Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences. I was very fortunate to get an office overlooking the lake and the Museum of Science. I saw lots of wild life outside my window - herons, cranes, egrets, ducks, and even a family of otters. They told me that there was a "pet" gator going across campus over to the lake on the other side of the campus. This is a gorgeous campus situated between two beautiful lakes.

Well, it was the beginning of a new "hot" adventure in the sunshine state...
