While most schools in the area were shut down by the snowy mix early morning of February 1, Southern cancelled only the early morning classes. Students were back attending convocation at 11 am after some fun with snow. Some were seen throwing snowballs, building snowman, or sledding on cafetaria trays. In fact, I saw several students creaming some clean snow for their bowls of fruit salad. It was a rare day of winter wonderland at Southern. I was told that it happened every 4 or 5 years.
