Dan's Travels: Oahu, Hawaii - Going To North Shore (March 2006)
We took the central route to go north (H1, H2, Hwy 80, and then 99). Although we had been to this island three times previously, we had never seen the famous North Shore. Amy wanted to see surfers underneath the humongous surfs (see next North Shore collage if Amy's wish came true). Along the way, we stopped at several beaches, Waimea park, and the Dole plantation. The lava rock beach seemed to be "un-earth-like" but we enjoyed the tide pools. The ice-cream (pineapple, of course) at the Dole Plantation was very refreshing (not sure if the pineapples were sweet). Waimea park was also a good stop. Admission was a little more than we expected. So we didn't see the falls but the spread of the beautiful peacock wandering in the park. On the way back to Waikiki, we were greeted by the beautiful and welcoming rainbow. |
